Die Krampfadern bilden sich hauptsächlich in den Beinen infolge einer Venenschwäche (chronische venöse Insuffizienz). Als Folge stauen sich Blut und Wasser vor allem in den unteren Beinabschnitten und im Fuß. Es kommt zu Schmerzen und Schwellungen bis hin zur Bildung von Geschwüren.
